What Is Trapped Cash?

Trapped cash is money that belongs to the business but is tied up in receivables, inventory, process delays, reconciliation gaps, or operational friction instead of being available for use.

Why It Matters

It matters because a company can look profitable while cash is unavailable for payroll, suppliers, growth, or debt reduction. Trapped cash often appears operationally before it becomes obvious in a financial statement.

How THEKNOWING.SPACE Uses It

The lab treats trapped cash as an observability problem. Cash Map and Working Capital Visibility try to show where money is delayed, blocked, or hidden inside operations.
